Jörn Kaspuhl discovered his passion for art and culture at an early age. Growing up in the early 1980s in Stade, a small town near Hamburg, he found inspiration in the surrounding Northern German countryside, with its vast apple and pear orchards. It was there that he began drawing his own comic-style stories, laying the foundation for his career as an illustrator.

In 2002, he moved to Hamburg to study Illustration at the Department of Design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). Even before graduating in 2008, he had established himself as a freelance illustrator, gaining valuable professional experience. Since then, he has worked with a wide range of national and international magazines, book publishers, music and fashion labels, as well as cultural institutions. From his first commissioned projects onward his client list has grown steadily.

Jörn's creative process combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary digital techniques. Working primarily with pencil, ink, and watercolor on paper, he uses digital tools to compose and refine his illustrations while preserving the quality of the original artwork. His work is characterized by intricate compositions, often combining portraiture with layered, collage-inspired imagery that blends diverse visual styles into a distinctive whole.

Alongside his freelance practice, Jörn has been teaching Illustration at the Faculty of Design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) since 2005, working as both a lecturer and tutor.

Today, he lives and works in Hamburg, where he continues to develop his distinctive visual language for editorial, publishing, and commercial clients around the world.
